Straight Pool Video: Ortmann vs. Lehman

Seventy six minutes of excellent pool
with Oliver Ortmann vs. Herb Lehman...
Herb who?
Although the name is not familiar to me,
Googling reveals that in 1994 he was inducted into
the New England Pool & Billiards Hall of Fame.
And he makes some really nice shots in this video.

These videos are great learning tools.
What I'm seeing is that straight pool
has ALL the shots,
and especially precision position shots
and shots where the cue ball is very close
to the object ball.
These are things I am working on.

These recent straight pool videos
are from the 1983 Straight Pool Championship
at Amsterdam Billiards in NYC.
I really need to play there on my next trip east.

I came upon your web site quite by accident and have become addicted. I have been playing pool and billiards for almost 40 years and it is good to see streight pool again. The halls today seem to be only 8 and 9 ball oreinted. Thanks for the effort you have put into this site.

Herb Lehmann has played mostly in the New York City area. His name is actually spelled with 2 N's on the end so perhaps a search with that spelling will be more fruitful. Billiards is his life. While he enjoys playing, he makes a living mainly at restoring all kinds of billiard tables. At 70 years old he is still playing and still winning! He just won an International Snooker tournament in Bermuda.
